Today begins 30 Days of Story. (Click here to read how this came about: The Power of Your Story.)
I am so excited to share 30 stories of 30 women who have witnessed God’s faithfulness in times of trial and sorrow or walked with friends in the messy parts of life.
While these are the stories of 30 wonderful women, they are framed in the context of God’s story. They are really about Him and each of us prays that He gets the glory through the story. (I know…it rhymes!;)
As we prepared for 30 Days of Story in our Facebook group and via emails, I shared this quote with the ladies: “The danger comes any time I go after making my own story (or women’s stories) central, as opposed to making sense of my story (or women’s stories) within the larger story of God’s redemption in Christ.”
That’s our prayer this month…that we make sense of our suffering and joys and share those stories in the context of the larger story of God’s redemption in Christ.
It’s always about Him. Always.
So, as you read along this month, we pray you learn more about Him, not us. We pray you learn more about the character of your Creator, not the character of us.
May our stories never overshadow His story.
May you see a Savior who died on a cross to save us from our sins.
May you see a Savior who extends grace and mercy to a broken, sinful world. No sin is too great. No suffering too big for our Almighty God.
As you read, you may wonder…Lord, why did you allow this? Why do so many suffer in such horrific ways?
While we don’t have all the answers, we can assure you: God redeems. He allows suffering for more reasons than we know or could comprehend, but He loves us. He wants us to grow closer to and more like Him each day. And, there’s no greater time of leaning on Him than in the midst of suffering.
We pray you don’s see or dwell on the suffering or injustice, but instead you see the hand of God and the redemption of man through His suffering – the greatest suffering.
These stories are inspiring. They have increased my faith. When I see God at work in the lives of others, I am in awe of Him.
I pray you grow in faith and “aweness” too!
Introducing the amazing ladies who will be sharing with you…
Psalm 107: 1-2 “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—those he redeemed from the hand of the foe.”
